Had a beer pong tournament last night, with a group of friends, and I absolutely hate the rules they came up with.

The only rules in my opinion should be you throw the ball in the cup, its removed. No blowing out, no moving hands in front of the cup, no blocking shots, just simple throw the ball in the cup.

Is the true way beer pong is meant to be played?

Basic Rules:

Only chicks blow.
You can taunt, but you can't do interference on the shots (no blocking cups until the last second, waving hands etc)
Bounce shots are worth 2, but can be blocked.
If both players hit the same cup, game over.
You don't have to finish your cup before you shoot, but that cup is still in play. If somebody gets it in the cup you're drinking, you lose.
Shutout: Losing team runs around the block naked.

Rules to beer pong that we (I) use:

there are either 6 or 10 cups in triagle fasion.
throw ball in opponents cup, they drink cup.
if both people throw their balls into a different cup, they go again.
no blocking, blowing any of that crap.
ball must dip into the water after every throw.
cups must be rearranged if they dont make a triangle.

I think thats about it.

The thing that made me mad was when my partner was hovering his hands over the cup, the other team threw the ball as hard as they could (not even towards the cup) and hit him in the arm and we lost the game because of it... it was just a cheap move...

That's how I've always played it. Does each person throw 1 or 2 balls on each turn with how you play?

When it comes to beer pong, I like to follow the KISS method. Drinking games with lots of rules suck.

I told them all before we started that we should just have no rules... throw the ball in the cup... I knew it would get too competitive and people would get way too drunk (playing half-filled cups, 10 cups, 5 team round robin where everyone played, then top four move into a single elimination tournament bracket)... and of course it did, and people started fighting over rules... Stupid...

I wish I could convince people of this... but no, we have to have every rule period...

6 cups
if both people make theirs in the same round you go again
1 re-rack at the time of your choice
you can taunt and put your hands over the cups but if your hand deflects a ball that can possibly go in than the shooter goes again at the very least
chicks can blow
bounce worth 2 but can be swatted blown catched etc.

if you both make the last two in a single round or both hit the same cup in a single round then there is no chance for a tie break

tie break is 4 cups
the people that made all their cups first get to shoot first

if you get skunked you streak

we play a few variations usually 6 or 10 cup depending on the amnt of people and amnt of beer we have, we do play 15 cup and 21 cup also, 21 is a diff game tho

our general rules are
you can choose to shoot 2 and then teamate shoots 2 or go 1 and 1
Only Girls can Blow
Bounce shot counts for 2
make both balls you get them back (roll backs)
sink the cup in opposing players hand == instant win - only applies when we aren?t playing MUST drink before you shoot rule
rerack at 10, 6, 3 - only if called for
when only 2 cups are left you can choose the cock (in a line) or the balls (side by side)
if you sink both cups when only 2 game over,
2 in the same cup = game over, even if just started
when down to single cup you get 1 redemption shot per shot it took to make last cup, up to 2

i thinks that?s about it

21 cup is played using Lehigh rules
you can actually play this one with more cups as mans as you want really
teams are of 3
there are 3 balls
there are no "turns" you have a ball you can toss it
when you make a cup, other team takes it and drinks it and then places empty cup back in the rack
if you sink a empty cup you have to drink from your own rack
a "runner" typically spots where full/empty cups are
when its down to 1 cup all empties are removed
all other basic rules apply

Everyone has their own rules. Ours are pretty simple:

Throw or bounce into the cup
No blocking or stupid sh!t like that
If both balls go into the same cup, the team gets them back
6 cups are initially placed, once down to three they are re-racked into a triangle
First team to sink all shots wins, other team drinks the winning team's remaining cups

I play beirut, not beer pong.

House rules at my place are usually:

six cup (sometimes ten)
no re-racks
bounce counts for one and you can swat (i hate bouncers)
no one can blow
make two cups in the same turn get the balls back
two balls in the same cup is three cups plus balls back

The way I played in college "Beirut" (because beer pong was a completely seperate game from what we're describing here):

6 cups / 3 beers
Each cup is worth two hits (so you need to sink 12 shots total)
No bouncing
No blowing
If both sink it's a bring back
Reracks at 4 (diamond), 3 (triangle), and 2 (side by side) cups

Beer pong was a vasty different game involving paddles. Much harder to master but much more drinking (a full 6 cups per game).

in real pong you drink WAY more then that, games last till someone pukes, and all you have to be is good at searving a ping pong ball, ive gone over an hour without missing in "Real Beer Pong" before

only prob is noone wants to play it because its so much more work
