Sorry, if you can't figure out an online store with a huge "Buy now" button, there is no hope for you. This conversation is done. I'm off to dinner.

You didn't say it was a buy now button, you said it was an add to basket button. I'm not your slave and am not about to spend more than a few seconds hunting through a link you provide to a shady retailer which won't even list its price. Way to slink away when beaten though ;)

Gurck, you may have been factual, but it doesn't change the fact that you're condescending and a jerk. Calling people "sheep" is a surefire way to make them ignore you.
And while you've pointed out a good many things that audiophiles may care about, you're ignoring the fact that not everybody's an audiophile. Even for most of the people on these boards, mp3 or AAC is fine. I code, and while I don't know probably nearly as much about computers as most of the elite members here, I know a crapload. And I love iTunes; I use it to encode things for my Clie. It's simple and it works.

Large-capacity iPods are overpriced, fine. For some people the cool factor is worth it. Do you think that everybody who has internal lights and a case window are sheep? Maybe you do, but saying it won't make you popular or change the fact that they think it's worth it.
Smaller capacity iPods, on the other hand, are pretty cheap. The 512 meg Shuffle has the lowest list price of any 512 meg player @ Amazon, and the third lowest actual price. Sure, it doesn't have a screen and it's fairly small capacity, but for my uses, it's the best deal I've ever seen.

Just accept the fact that some people have different criteria than you do in an mp3 player.

You're right. It's only ok to call names if your opinion coincides with the majority's, how silly of me

Next time read, then post. I've gone over this more than once in this thread already since other ipod proponents have trouble reading as well (coincidence?)

I do, this is why I don't have a 'favorite' player to suggest when asked; it depends on priorities. Notice how I didn't say a word about the Shuffle? This isn't an accident. I'm not interested in flash players and so don't research or comment on them. Actually, the only thing I've ever said concerning the Shuffle is that it might not be a bad deal for $100, as I've seen flash players which cost $200 and more. Putting words in peoples' mouths isn't going to win you any arguments either.

Just got a 4GB Ipod Mini earlier this week. I'm enjoying it and iTunes and would not hesitate to buy it again. As people have mentioned, the earphones are lacking and should be upgraded as soon as possible .

Damn, you went 6 pages arguing? Heh, thanks. Although i appreciate it, i really didnt understand or care for much of what was said. I am not an audiophile at all. And i stress that. Honestly, i dont even know what flossy or anything means. You are talking about all these specs i dont even care for, really. I pretty much just wanna listen to mp3s, thats all i really have. I dont even really have WMAs. It probably wont sound worse than my 100 (now, used to be 180 :D) buck flash iriver mp3 player. It holds more songs, and its really really easy to use (mini).

I would like it to record things, or have a radio like my current one, but honestly, i hardly ever use those functions. Would all this stuff you are talking about even apply to an audio retarded person? lol... :D

Seems like you really have your heart set on it *shrug*. You're already making excuses for the lack of features, sound quality & price. As I've said, people who claim not to have any interest in sound quality simply haven't heard a good setup. Would you want static & pops in your music? Fidelity at higher levels is no different; better sound is better sound.

No one has ever told me about that though, and when i've used them, i havent heard that stuff :\ Plus, i dont have my heart set on it. But those features you claim are unimportant are actually quite important to me (and a good deal of other people as well, it seems). I did not make an excuse at all, i just stated (as a fact) i would not mind having those features, but the lack thereof does not bother me at all.

I havent chosen anything, but i will within the next week or two. There is time yet lol. Seems like from everyone ive asked, even in person, they really enjoy their ipod minis. It shall be seen :) .

Why is your tone so argumentative? I think that's why it seems to other people you genuinely dislike apple.

I think it is elegant and beautiful. When they make one with better video (at least a decent DX9 chip with 128MB ram) and with optical out for DD/DTS signals, I would really like to get one to be used as HTPC along with a HDTV LCD for a HT setup. Right now it's not mature enough.

You complained about the design, I agree, I don't like it, but that's just an oppinion.
You complained about the sound, most people won't care, it sounds ok as far as portable players go, most anyone won't care.
You complained about the price, products are worth as much as people will pay, if people would pay $10K for it, thats what it would be worth.

And so forth, everything so far has been your oppinion, and obviously many people disagree with you.
Aside from my opinion on its looks & my feelings on the statement it makes about you to others, all of my points (the majority of them) have been factual. Not opinions, not complaints. It does not play ogg or flac. It does have 0.42% THD as measured through the headphone jack. Etcetera... these are not opinions.
You're the one who threadcraps in every iPod thread, please point to the vast number of threads where I crap?
Threadcrapping is having a dissenting opinion? If you want a circle jerk where no one's allowed to disagree, make your own thread and state this explicitly in the original post (or post in P&N). Who said you crap in threads? I certainly didn't. I said you mindlessly insulted me for being mindless when my post was nothing of the sort.

No, to me it turns to threadcrapping when you post in damn near every thread discussing iPod's just to say they suck, regardless of the reason for this suckage.

I'm no big fan of Windows, but you don't see me posting in every Windows thread about how it sucks.
If anything, I'll offer advice where I can.

Quote from Goober,

The iPOD mini is a bad value and offers little bang for the buck
Here is my Pick,

******************************************************************************************************************************************************
My bad...I should of quoted him the right way but didn't...

My sentiments are the same...I have the MUVO TX FM 1 gb...got it for $139 last week...so dam small and I get 9 hrs with rechargeable NIMH batteries...I wanted this one for the size and durability....take it fishing or anywhere without it skipping...have some shure e3c's and it sounds lovely....screen is small but that is the sacrifice you have to make with the size...comes with an armband and you dont' have to worry bout it following out of ur pocket... in my estimation there wasn't any other product out there that can give methe performance that """"I""""wanted....

just my opinion

Your continued argument on this is baffling; the OP asked a question and I answered. Amazing that I have to deal with this crap because it wasn't the answer you wanted to hear. If you really liked Apple and their ipod you'd be able to tolerate people having differing opinions on it. Instead you seek safety in numbers and attack when you feel that's threatened. Like all fanboys.

You, on the other hand, posted for no reason other than to insult - and in as hypocritical a manner as possible.

Righty, I'm a fanboy, despite the fact that I haven't owned an Apple product in years
I merely stated that I think they make good, if overpriced, products, more specifically the Powermacs and Powerbooks.
I even mentioned that the iPod wasn't for me, so if there's anyone twisting words here, it's you.

My reply wasn't based on what you said in this thread, here your reply did make sense, my reply was based on the fact that I see you coming into loads of iPod threads only to say how much it sucks.

You must not read very well then. While ipod fans often post only to say "it's good" in some wannabe catchy, trendy way like comparing it to a BMW (speaking of which, why aren't you calling them on being mindless?), I always state why I feel the way I do; anything less would reflect as poorly on my intellect as it does on theirs.

Just get the latest ver of the 20gb, I thought I'd never fill my original ipod 5gb but filled it fast, so I go the 3rd gen 10gig and filled that up fast so I just got the 4th gen 40 gb one a few months ago and its about half full. Mostly with 320k mp3s and wav files.

I understand wanting lots of storage, but man... how many songs do you ever listen to at one sitting or need to carry around with you?

Instead of spending $450 on a 60GB iPod, or even $275-$300 on a 20GB model - why not buy a $200 iPod Mini or a $99 iPod shuffle, spend $60 on an 80GB hard drive for your computer, and just pocket the $15-$290 you saved!

I just figured that at around 1000 songs worth of storage, a 4GB mini is going to run out of battery life around 30 hours before you could listen to all of those songs. Players are for playing music... hard drives are for storing them... you're just wasting your cash when you start asking your player to perform double-duty.

Just my 2 cents...

iPod mini's are the best. I've owned my gold one for a year now. Wish they came out with a 2nd gen gold model, but oh well. Maybe next gen they will.

Yeah. Im just deciding between the mini 6b and the 20gb. I still think ill get the mini, but we'll see. i have around 12 gigs of music now, once i filter that down, it should be 6-10.
