How do you guys become "Lifers"?!?

I've noticed that several people here have gotten "Lifer" status and their post count seemed to jump past 10,000. Maybe I'm imagining things but I could have sworn they only had post counts in the 3000 range before it suddenly jumped up to 10,000. How did they do it?😕
