How do you get your readings?

I know this is a silly question, but I would like to know how some of you get your ambient reading and cpu temps etc.... Yes I know the bios tells some but has anyone installed actual sensors in the cases and stuff? If so could you explain what you did or post a link to a picture.

well, motherboard monitor 5 allows you to read the case /cpu temp. from within windows on most mobo's

other than that, i actually bough a radio shack "car" thermometer. it has a long wire with a probe on the end. i put the probe in the case and have the temp readout by my monitor. gives me a pretty decent idea about ambient case temps. i know there's versions you can be (not at radio shack though) that actually mount under your cpu, which give you pretty accurate readings.

Thx,
What I am thinking about doing is, I have empty drive bays in my 1040 case and I would like to do a slight case mod and put a Led Temperature display in one of the bay cover plates. But I wanted to know if there is already something made for this before I totaly build an un-needed mod.

well, i've come across several bay-mounted temperature options. although, wouldn't you know it, i can't think of any right now! maybe someone else can, else, i'll cruise around the 'net and see what i can find.

wait a minute....in fact, i have a bay-mounted ambient case temperature sensor that i failed to mention earlier. it's called "cp-vue", and guess what!

here's a review of it! mine doesn't have the cord to measure cpu temps, but it does mount in a bay. check it out!

edit: here's another that i came across called "digital doc 2"
