Forgot to mention, my connection has been capped so it's 4/384? Instead of 10/2, I should really get it uncapped.

I beleive OOL is one of the top rated, fastest cable services in the country... It rocks!

THat's a useless claim considering they aren't national

AT&T DSL 6MB/7xxk. $29.99/month, 1 year contract.

Ps. The modem always comes free w/ the deal. I have 4 DSL and 1 Cable modem sitting around from previous deals.

Optimum Online is extremely fast, but the reliability isn't so great and I think they're the only internet provider that caps their users for uploading a lot.

According to DSL reports, it rates pretty high against all other providers.. national and otherwise..

As for the claims that it isnt stable, I think my Internet went out once in the last two years. When I first got it ~7 yrs ago, there was incosistency, but they have been rock solid ever since they upgraded their network. OOL FTW!

And it sucks. As far as I know i can only get service from Cox and Qwest in my area. Are there other smaller providers that I dont know of? Do I really have to use qwests garbage hardware? Do I really have to pay a rediculously high premium for faster internet or is there a cheaper way? I feel so ignorant to this stuff that I feel I dont even know the right questions to ask.

So where do you get your internet from and how much do they charge?

Time Warner Cable $45 a month for internet

You can also try Covad DSL but they are geared towards business so only available in some areas and a bit pricy. What's wrong with COX? I used them where I lived last and speed and service were good. I think it was $40 a month.

$45/month for about 10/1.5 Cable from Optimum Online
$90/month if you include the family cable.

Also, Verizon's FiOS is available in my area: 15/2 for the same cost as OO
