How do you get your internet?

Okay I feel really ignorant concerning how to obtain internet access. I have qwest 256k dsl and I am generally not impressed. They require that you use their modem router all in one deal. And it sucks. As far as I know i can only get service from Cox and Qwest in my area. Are there other smaller providers that I dont know of? Do I really have to use qwests garbage hardware? Do I really have to pay a rediculously high premium for faster internet or is there a cheaper way? I feel so ignorant to this stuff that I feel I dont even know the right questions to ask.

So where do you get your internet from and how much do they charge?

I have 6Mb/384Kb internet right now and I'm happy with it. I bought my own Surf Board and I pay 23 bucks a month right now. Oh yeah, it's Adephia cable.

Qwest DSL here too. They require a Zoom or Actiontec "Gateway" modem router, theirs or buy your own.

Nowadays you can check your local yellow pages. I'd be willing to bet you have some ISP's you dont even know about.

honestly i don't know why people bash comcast. I get the 6m/384k up for 42.95 a month and i am glad to pay that because my speed has always been fast and in the 4 years i have had them my service only went out twice during the dns outages. Other than that they have been good.
