How do you get those damn washers off the TT big typhoon?

I tightened them so damn tight, I can't figure out a way to get 'em off, but my temps are approaching 65c with 37C case temps (thats with the side off, its just too damn hot in my appartment, steam heat is a PITA).

Anyone have any ideas with out pwning the thing? I had to mount it the alternate way, since my backplate wasn't the right kind.

Take off your old back plate. I think you don't have it mounted correctly. I know its a pain, I just spent an hour doing mine ! I will stay with the XP90/SI120 in the future.

I did actually. My stock backplate is off somewhere in the great yonder, I had to remove it to put on my Zalman 7700. I used the one that came with the TT and did the screws through the bottom thingy...

I have it all mounted on there, but I think I have too much AS5. I only put a rice sized thing on the IHS, and a bb sized thing on the HSFU, but I think together, thats too much. Should have just did it like I used to, really thin layer on the IHS, but people said this worked bette.

I am a firm believer in the good old GOOD quality white paste. 2c isn't worth the trouble that AS5 seems to give.

I had some copper based geil goop that did the job, but I lost it when I moved out. 🙁 oh well. Need to find an uber small wrench or something, because I can't get these things off by hand. Don't know how I got them on there that hard...

I just reset my Zalman tonight, putting a single rice-sized bead on the cpu as the Arctic site recommends, and it took about 5-6c off.

Think you need more than that though 😉.

Actually AS5 will only take at best 2c to4c off!!

What most likely happenned was you seated your zalman better than it was previously and AS5 doesn`t work that fast...it take 100-200 hrs to cureand even then if as you say it took 5c to 6 c off then you were extremely lucky!!🙂
