Things like Quicktime, MSN Messenger, etc. I remove it from MSCONFIG but some how some way it magically reappears after a few reboots. How do I disable it for good?

hm, i've seen some options in the programs themselves about starting on the system startup, poke around the programs options and disable it, because that might be whats causing it to be put back into the startup

msconfig removes entries from there, but sometimes a program's settings will re-add itself to the startup, so you might want to just do it from the program's options

Because not everything that starts up with your computer is listed in MSconfig. So instead of using msconfig and regedit you can use what I posted above.

in addition to the other suggestions, go to your Administrative Tools>Services and check what's set to Auto, Manual and Disabled. Adjust the settings how you like.
