How do you get the distributed.net client to display current progress?

There's a % up there....but that doesnt seem to ever update, unless I exit/re-start the client.

Also...is there any way to choose if u wanna try RC5, or OGR, or whatnot?

you are probably cracking randoms... either your network connection is not hooked up or you've configured it to crack randoms... this probably isnt a good idea as you dont get as much credit for randoms.. post your dnetc.ini file and we might be able to give tips... also, are you behind a firewall?

Yes, I'm behind a firewall...and my network is fine 🙂

that ini file u mentioned:

[parameters]
id=Eric_Liu@zdnetonebox.com

[triggers]
pause-on-high-cpu-temp=yes

Does that help at all...?

When I configured it, I just briefly went through the thing, and changed like 1 option about it's priority or something...I dont know what most of that stuff meant lol

[parameters]
id=Email@domain.com

[rc5]
fetch-workunit-threshold=512
preferred-blocksize=33
randomprefix=74

[misc]
project-priority=DES,CSC,RC5,OGR=0

Try this.... Just change the email address... if you want to change your proxy you can do that with the

[networking]
keyserver=jani.teamanandtech.com:2064
disabled=no
autofindkeyserver=no

only instead of jani.teamanandtech.com put whatever proxy you want to use....
note: jani is the official TAKlingon proxy... YOU WANNA JOIN!!!????!!?!?!

your problem is your firewall... dnet uses port 2064 and i'm betting you dont have a hole punched for it... some proxy's respond to port 80... jsut change the "...tech.com:2064" to "...tech.com:80" in your ini file...

How will I know if the proxy will work?

Btw, I dont access the net through a proxy...and SETI works fine w/o them...?

EDIT: How/where do you join TA for RC5? And...after joining TA...how do I join Klingon? hehe (ill be glad to join...just tell me how)

-eric

Ok, I made da changes...and now I'm cracking RC5...neato 🙂

Hmmmm...one last thing though: is it possible to make the current progress show?

If you want to look at current progress, double click on the little cow icon in the taskbar and the windows will pop back up.... and don't forget to join the Klingons!!!
