How do you get secret government clearance?

I had secret clearance in the army, it's really no big deal. Just because in my particular MOS we used somewhat new computers for artillery targeting, it was considered necessary for us to have secret clearance.

Nope, proprietary is lower.

Proprietary ---> Secret ---> Top Secret.
I don't think "confidential/proprietary" is even considered a "security clearance" is it? Pretty much every employee who has ever worked for an employer has access or is privileged to some types of confidential company information and is bound by confidentiality terms as a condition of employment.

It requires nothing accept saying (or signing) "I agree to these terms of confidentiality".

On edit: Well at least for the purposes of the FBI, there are only two security clearances; Secret and Top Secret. Any lesser level is considered no "security clearance" at all.
