How do you get rid of wasps?

My backyard is swarming with them! There's 1 visible nest under the awning. They don't sting us, but it certainly looks like an air raid back there.

You can invest in some badminton rackets and go to town back there. When my brother and I were kids we used to swat them after stirring up their nest.

My dad keeps up with the backyard. If he notices a nest, he knocks it down before they get too big. Otherwise, he gives my brother a can of Raid and tells him to take care of it. :)

Get some Raid and spray their asses from long range! Then knock the nest down.

Kill 'em when it's early evening or before sunrise. You don't want to deal with aggressive wasps during the middle of the day.

If the nest is near concrete, knock it down, pour some gasoline on it, and light it. However, it helps to have a full beekeepers' suit if you're going to do that.

Otherwise, just get some Raid and spray from long range.

Alright, thanks for the help. I googled too. I guess the colony will go dormant after Fall, so maybe I'll just take the nest down then. If they start stirring things up, I will try that long distance projectile spray

We have a nest of yellowjackets in a chair that got left on the front porch. Hosing with with Raid won't work because the nest is deep inside the chair.

Any ideas?

Diazonon (sp?) there is some good anti-pest chemicals that are in granules..... Pour the stuff on and around the nest, wait till the beast calm down and then water the chemicals/nest. The stuff I got releases the diazonon when it gets wet. That seems to kill anything.

Companies hat sell insecticide make a spray that can reach out and touch a nest from 12 feet or more. Get that if you can. The spray comes out in a very thin stream that allows you to hit the nest from afar.

On another note you could always move.

Grab a can of foaming bee/wasp spray, stand back 10 or so feet, spray it down and get away. Repeat a couple times then get rid of the nest.
