How do you get rid of LCD dust?

I've just bought a nice (kinda) Dell 24" LCD monitor off ebay. Everything's perfect apart from a few dust particles that are sitting on the hind side of the LCD panel. With the backlight behind the dust particles, they are casting small dark spots on the display.

I got rid of some of these dust particles by tapping the side of the screen. As I tapped, the dust clearly made its way down the screen, before falling out of view at the bottom. Problem is I can't get rid of them all. There're a couple of bits near the middle of the screen that just wont shift. They're definitely not bad pixels.

Real shame that something so simple can cause such a problem. Apart from that, this monitor is beautiful! How can I get rid of these stupid bits of dust?

I guess taking the monitor apart and blowing the dust free from the hind side of the LCD panel is a bad idea. right?

It's SO annoying! I would really appreciate a bit of help if possible.

get a tv screen cleaner kit from monster cable. i clean all of my tv crt or lcd's with it with great results. you can find it at bb, cc etc.

I don't think that will be any good because the dust is actually on the back of the LCD panel. Between the backlight and the hind side of the LCD, which is why the dust is so apparent - because it blocks the light coming through the screen.

Readbefore you post, the dust is behind the screen, using monster cleaner there would most likely wreck the screen. I would try some compressed air through the top vents/seals to see if you can blow it out.

I've never taken an LCD apart before, so, I don't know about that option.
What I do know is things like this tend to not go back together quite right ever again.

I have some wipes I use but I have found that a feather duster that works quite well. It has very soft feathers on it and once a day I just lightly dust off the screen. The wipes I only use if things get really dirty.

The only way to get rid of the dust using compressed air would be to take the thing apart to get at the back of the LCD panel. Not sure that's a good idea. Looks like it's a sealed unit anyway.

I tried a vacuum sucking through the vents to get the dust out too. Didn't work.

Cripes why do half of you posting here still not realize that the dust IS ON THE INSIDE OF THE MONITOR.

So no, a featherduster won't work.

Taking it apart might be your only option, it's probably not as dangerous as it seems at first glance. Just be careful and good luck.

I've had a close look at the "taking it apart" option, but it looks like it's completely sealed up. There don't seem to be any screws or any clips that would allow me to take the thing apart. *sigh*
