How do you get rid of a canker sore?

Listerine. Brutal initially like you said, but minimizing the bacteria in the mouth is key. Always starts healing for me.
 
I put salt on them. It hurts like a mumfvcker but it draws the nasty out of them.
If it's a bad one, it'll bring tears to your eyes, but you have to leave the salt pile on until it goes numb.
 
Kanka until it goes buhbye. Or Ambesol. Or Medicated Blistex in a pinch. I don't think you can accelerate how to get rid of them, just numb the pain until it happens naturally. I could be wrong.
 
My wife says you're supposed to put Kenalog with Benzocaine on them.
She's a dental assistant.
She also said there's a new rinse out. She couldn't remember what it's called.
