I was just doing my laundry and noticed some gum on my clothes. Anyone know the best way to get rid of gum?

Try freezes the clothes that have gum on it then gently scrape it off with a knife, or solvent if the clothing item is white.

Use an ice cube to freeze the gum, and once it's brittle, it should peel off. There will be some residue left over from the colouring and sugar in the gum, so use HOT water to get that out.

*edit* Disclaimer: if it's a dark coloured item, the hot water will cause the item to fade a wee bit.

Yup, it actually works, i've done it myself.

As for the olive oil, it sounds like an interesting idea but I can't see him pouring oil on his clothes. :p

speaking of which, i need to make sure they got our drier here at our fixed htis weekend while i was gone. i have a lot of laundry to do, and if the dryer still doesnt get hot, i'm screwed.

Lisa: Waaah! Augh. There's gum in my hair! Mom! Someone threw gum in my hair!
Marge: Are you sure? Maybe it's just Shampoo, that washes right out.

Marge: The trick to getting out gum.. is peanut butter! There. Now that gum should lift right out. Hmmm..... maybe it needs a little Mayonnaise to get going. Okay, you go sit in the sun and let it melt in.

i had gum on a pair of nice black slacks and i took it to the dry cleaners. they took it out no problem. i was too lazy to try and ice it off, plus i dont think i could have done as nice as a job on it.
