How do you get free credit report from transunion?

Can you believe a professor actually asks the student to obtain an credit report from transunion? And, unfortunately, this one from official website dont even offer free credit report for 30 days. So I was wondering if anyone knows how to obtain a free credit report from Transunion for free.

in some states they offer it free online. if they dont you could just say your applied for credit and were turned down. all they ask is the name of the company and the date you were turned down; I did this last week and got it instantly online.

I dont think I got turned down by any source that they said they used Transunion....
Any other way?
