Also, having a unique name helps. Google my name here, and you'll find a lot of references to my site. Mainly forums. However, 2 weeks ago, you'd find nothing. My site was down, and therefore was banished from google's rankings for a bit. I used a simple URL submitter that came with my last hosting plan, which used cpanel. But you can find many programs that claim to submit your site to various engines.

I've tried those as well then I read on some SEO site that search engines don't like those type of cpanel submissions--but who knows?

It's been spidered. I did a search using:

"Tell us Health Topics you would like added to BestHealthBoards.com"

and your site came up. Google does not necessarily index all content in forums; I don't know what it uses to determine what it will index and what it won't, or how deep it will spider when it comes to forums.

Edit: Also, improve your title. After your domain name in the title add a short description using mostly keywords. Keep the title description short, about 6 - 9 words total.

vBulletin sites get spidered quite deeply from what I have seen.

I hope I don't have one of those robot.txt files somewhere in my site that supposedly tells spiders not to crawl.

You need to be linked to from a site that's regularly spidered. Those sites that update their content regularly will be spidered faster than those that don't. Forget about submission sites etc. And there's no need to pay anybody.

Well, not really if you want to do it properly. Those submission sites are, IMHO, crooks pure and simple. If you want to get in a lot of directories quickly you could try www.selfpromotion.com where for some effort and a few dollars Robert will help you.

The name of your web site, and the title of it mean a lot.
The title being the text that displays when you minimize the browser.
Even the names of the picture files on the site matter.

I know someone who gets his Amsoil site to the top of the search engines for free. He trades links, and has hundreds of sites with names people search on. He says there are a hundred different things that matter, but he knows what they are, he figured it out.

It does take a few weeks for a site to appear in the search engines. What I did on mine, was put up pictures and videos of roller coasters. A news site linked to my page, and boom, I had tons of traffic. I made a deal with my host, I advertise them, and he gives me unlimited bandwidth. Now I put pictures of everything I do on there.

Make web pages with pictures of what you do in life. If you build a new computer, take pictures of it each step of the way. If you visit an amusement park, make a web site of your visit.

My site kinda showed up on it's own when I serch my real name. I fluctuate from #1 to #5 on google... the person that has the other top 4 or 5 sites is a university professor, with sites from different universities, so you know he probably has a lot of links to him.

for some reason my site just isn't getting spidered........I've tried many of the suggestions in this thread.
