How do you get a screenshot of an mpeg?

I'm working on my digital portfolio and I want to make thumbnails to some videos I've made. The old printscreen button only shows a blank screen where the video should be. Anyone know of a program that'll get me a still of an mpeg? I'm using XP btw

Haha, if I had known about this, it would have saved me installing like three other players to see which one you can screenshot from.

Does Alt-PrintScreen not take a screen shot of what is displayed in WMP?

I think it works based on some kind of an overlay deal, which means it won't show up in a regular screenshot.

Doesn't seem to work with Windows Media Player 9 ?
It depends on the file type. Protected formats, like certain .wmv's, don't work

You could always go into PowerDVD or WinDVD and do a screen capture of an mpeg too.

I'm not sure why the Alt-Print Screen didn't work for you. I just paused the video and did that and it loaded up in Paint with no problem. Perhaps it's specific protected files that will not allow you to do this.
