from the local city hall usually, you then pay no sales tax on purchases of goods that are resale then charge the customer sales tax and relay it over to the city.

would it allow you to have access to wholesellers as well? And if you get the license from one city you can use it anywhere?

Yes if you can show you have a resellers licence you will be able to buy from distributors however unless you are buying in serious bulk it isn't any cheaper than newegg if your talking about hardware/software..

I can attest to that. I have a wholesale licence for my buisness. Unless you buy in $50k chunks, you can find most everything cheaper with coupons and sales.

It sucks.

Yup, all this is correct. I have a license too but hardly use it. Once in a while it comes in handy but usually newegg is just cheaper and faster.

Yep. Especially Ingram-Micro. You can get individual resell authorization from companies like Intel but then you end up buying the products through distributors like IM anyway.
