Get a fly rod, tie a fly to it and go BAT fishing. When he takes the bait, be sure to yank real hard so when he hits the ground he is stunned.

best way i think is too wait till it calms down and sleeps then slip it into a box with a lid...then it go outside....but if it's too high, then i dunno

don't kill it or harm it. Bats are actually very very good to have around. They eat all those nasty bugs that nobody wants around. I actually have a few bat houses in my back yard and try to attract bats.

There was a thread some time ago on this very subject. I forget the solution, but the guy got it out of his house successfully. I think you have to wait till it isn't moving, then put a paper bag over it and take it outside. I guess once they stop moving they stay still for a while even after you grab it.

Check the archives.

My Mom did the shoebox and lid while it's sleeping thing once. Worked really well.

When one was in the school they used a broom to whack it and then plopped a jar and lid over it.

Totally unrelated, but I do have a bat story. I was at tennis camp one day (full day camp, real intense camp) and we were all eating lunch when suddenly this big black thing falls down from the ceiling and smacks on the ground. Well, it was a bat. I kinda felt bad for the poor thing because it really hurt itself and once it hit and woke up it started like crawling using it's good wing to help it move, it was really kinda sad now that I think about it. It was struggling so much. Damn. :(

ok do what everyone else says buy the Raid wasp spray and spray it then retreat and come back later and beat the crap out of it with a broom......oh wait wrong thread =)

ok seriously ummmmm....cattle prod.....no no how bout ohoh....attact 2 wires to an electrical socket then put them on a poll (not touching) then touch them both to the bat while its sleeping and ZAPPPP goes the weasel....and possibly POP goes the circuit breaker
or get a really cheap bb gun that wouldn't do any damage to your house

thanks for the info and thanks for that other thread. only problem is. the wall it is hanging on is30 feet up...... so that presents a different problem.. I have windows open and the wind is blowing so maybe it will just let itself out..... that would be nice. I would rather deal with ANYTHING except for a bat!

call animal control.

usually, you just leave a window open so it can get out. unless it nested there, which is unlikely.

maybe it will turn into a vampire -- be sure to put garlic around :) seriously, though, what if you light up a barbeque with wet wood inside -- could you smoke it out??? i did that with a scorpion that lived in my car (actually, in that case, no bbq, just a smudge stick) ;) PLEASE don't hurt it!

Why do you dislike bats so much? They are just like flying squirrels (sp? I always mess this up). They are mammals. Don't think of them as rodents or similar such, because they are not. There are a bunch of myths about bats, and they are pretty much all untrue. They do not fly in your hair. THey do not go and bite you. In fact, even the vampire bats don't attack humans. They use their fangs to tear into fruit. Bats are pretty cool animals.

Call in The Penguin, Joker and Cat Woman. They will take care of that pesky bat. ;)

We've had a couple bats in my house recently. My roomate just smacked them with a broom and them picked them up and threw them outside. This all happened while I was hiding under my covers screaming like a little girl.;)

Give it a day to remove itself on its own. Keep an eye out for where its getting in and out. If its a nice little crack, put some netting over the crack but make sure there is a slit in the netting to allow the bat to crawl down and out. It can not use the same trick to get back in so problem solved. Sometime later, fill the hole with a more permanent solution. If you want to be nice, buy a nice little bat house and place beside the opening its been using to give it a more appropriate home. Bats are a good thing to have around. One bat is worth one can of mosquito spray. And that is just what they eat in one night.

this morning there is no sign of it. so hopefully it flew out the open window... and Even though everyone says they won't do this, they won't do that. I still dislike the little vermin.. I find them nasty.

and i have talked with people, that have actually had a vampire bat come after them.. they was in africa though and this isn't one of them.. thank the good Lord.
