i dont have a windows 98 or any boot disk. i know you cannot create one in windows 2000. how can i flash my bios? must i have to get a hand on a windows 98 or me boot disk?

If you want to update your bios you will need a boot disk, the company will probably give you everythign you need to put on it. If you just want to clear your CMOS settings then there will be a jumper on the mainboard that can do it.

Typically I just use a windows 95 boot disk with cdrom drivers. If you don't have access to a win9x boot disk, email me, and I will send you a zipped copy.

Actually you can create bootdisks in Win2k: use the fancy .exe file (createbootdisk.exe it's called, I believe) on the Win2k CD-ROM, follow the instructions and you're finished.

Unlike Win9x/ME bootdisks, Win2k will give you 4 disks, crammed with useful tools and a setup program.

That's not a standard boot disk, the bios installers won't work from it. I know, I've tried.

Most BIOS manufacturers have clued in to this now, and include a boot-disk utility with the new driver revs. If not, you'll need to get access to a win95 or 98 machine so you can make a boot disk. This is why I've got a copy of a 98 boot disk around at all times,....
