i have an older G4 that i'd like to upgrade the video card on, but the price of new video cards is very cost prohibitive. i've seen people in the past flash a pc video card so that it become sa usable mac card, does anyone have any experience doing this?

that way i could buy a cheap pc agp video card like a 9600pro or fx5600 and flash it, then use it on the mac.

anyone done this, or would be willing to do it for me for a few dollars?

Well, I don't know the answer to your question. But I'm wondering even if you get it "flashed" do they make drivers for it?

If nothing else consider this a bump :)

Yeah, the "flashing" w/b to change the card's BIOS. I was just wonder if there are Mac OS drivers available.

Another free bump ;)

Do a google search for strangedogs and 9800 or x800 and you should find it.

Some PC cards are flashable with a Mac ROM, but the Mac ROM was typically larger, so you have to be careful which PC card you buy. Drivers aren't usually a problem on the Mac so long as the card has existed as either OEM or retail at some point - this includes most of the 9x00 series and the x800.
