Whats your idea, in general? Good enough ideas attract money on their own.

For example, my girlfriend has some PEZ dispensers to get rid of. I was thinking of creating a website that would gather bidders and sellers in one forum. One "feature" of the website will be the ability to skip the bidding process and "buy it now".

The frequently repeated story that eBay was founded to help Omidyar's fiancée trade PEZ Candy dispensers was fabricated by a public relations manager in 1997 to interest the media. This was revealed in Adam Cohen's 2002 book[2] and confirmed by eBay.

Much of the initial capital for a startup comes from angel investors. This might be friends, friends of friends, family, colleagues or even small firms that focus on providing such capital. Usually this is a route one has to take if they don't have a credible prototype that they can pitch to the major VC firms. Angel investors provide the starting capital, the company builds the first pass, and the 2nd round of financing gets pushed to the larger firms that can take the company to the next level.
