How do you find REALLY obscure music?

I've looked for years and haven't had any luck. The album is a jazz record called "Dessert" by the Chris James Quartet, first released in 1986. Short of tripping over it in a used record store by sheer dumb luck, is there any good way to find this? A cd copy would be most ideal (I know they existed) and a tape copy second most ideal.

I think Catero shut down in the late 80s, unfortunately.

I actually have a record copy of the album, just trying to get my hands on a tape or cd. I don't have the right recording equipment to preserve the album in a more usable format.

I spent years too looking for the sole album of the band Meanstreak called Roadkill(also the single on a compilation CD I have and the instigator of the search). I found it on vinyl years ago on eBay and bought it thinking I had a relative with a turntable so I could at least hear their other songs. Unfortunately as it turned out, none of my relatives had a turntable, so the search continued. I just periodically checked eBay until I was elated to find it on cassette(also would have preferred a CD), but at least I own a portable radio with a cassette player. I had my worries about it being used, but it arrived in like new condition and plays wonderfully(even though it is a london import version). Their other songs are pretty good but not as good as roadkill(although I am probably biased as I have listened to it hundreds of times more than the others).

Find somebody who does. Surely somebody will be willing to let you use their turntable and computer for an hour, especially if you give them a few bucks. If all else fails, you might have to mail it off to somebody or do a classified ad.

I found this on Metacrawler. Contact the AJHF or whoever else on that page and see if they have any suggestions. If they don't, ask them who you should ask next.

If nothing helps, let me know. I'm good at solving problems like this.
