How do you find out where a limited release movie is showing?

If you know a movie will be coming out but it's a limited release, how can you find out which theaters will have it? I ran into this issue recently with Sicario I think it was. I couldn't find it anywhere the week it was released but a couple of weeks later I saw it listed in a nearby theater. It would be nice to know in advance where a limited release movie can be seen.

Going to the webpage of the movie is generally sufficient.

2) Official movie website.
3) Fandango.com
4) Local artsy fartsy or independent movie theaters.

Fandango is useless. I thought for sure that if I looked up a movie there it would show me theaters, but if it does, it doesn't always work.

Sometimes google will show you movie times if a movie is already out or very close to release but again, not always.

The official site idea is a good one but not all limited releases seem to have an official site.

It's weird because you can get all sorts of lists for upcoming releases but none seem to give you a link to any sort of site listing theaters. It's really weird.

Just use Google to see the theaters that are playing the movie.

Movie title and zip code?

Nothing specific. It's just a general question. I live in NJ about an hour from NYC so if I see a new release here that looks interesting, I don't want to have to wait until a week before to find out if it's going to be playing near me. If I could find out where it's playing and let's say it's only showing in NYC, then I can make plans to go see it.

This issue comes up a lot and I've exhausted every search I can think of.
