How do you find dead pixels?

I just got my 1905FP...

It's great, i love it... but I'd like to make sure I don't have any dead pixels (this is my first LCD)... people keep talking about testing/checking to find them, but I don't know how... do you just look? Or is there something that lets you know or helps you find out?

if you don't see any when you look for them, does it really matter that you have any? i don't know if there is a utility (probably not), but i would say if you can't see any, don't worry about it.

I'd assume you'd just load an all white screen and then look for any small black dots. But really you'd have probably noticed the dead pixels by now if you had any.

There is a simple program called Dead Pixel Buddy that helps check for dead pixels by simply displaying full-screen backgrounds in different colors. Look here:

Just beware that if you go looking, you might find something. 😉

Perception is reality. If you don't see 'em, then they are not there. Most LCD makers have a policy on how many dead pixels justify a return. I think Dell is 8 - some are 9. I have several LCDs over the past 5 years and have yet to find one.

I use a telescope to look at it.

What all those guys up there said....don't actively look for something that might become cause for annoyance
