Word of mouth/referrals? Is there a yelp-like site for doctors/dentists? Other?

I'm trying to find a doctor that isn't so enthusiastic about prostate exams.

Methods you listed are usually best.

Other way is just trial and error. Go to the doctor for a simple checkup/physical and see if you agree to them. If they ask for the prostate exam say hell no and never go back and see them.

I know that angies list started listing doctors etc. but they want you to pay money for their service so...not really worth it.

Skip Angies list. There are a couple free sites that rate doctors, don't remember which ones tho.

Not to be a wet blanket about the prostate comments but my brother had a similar attitude - he's dead now from it at age 60.

Just saying...

I don't mind the prostate exam, I'm just stayin there's a point when you know he's adding a mandatory tip, if you know what I mean.

My doc said I do not need to start getting a prostate exam until I hit 40 and I'm going to hold him to that.

I've always wondered about the scenario where the patient is gay and ...

Never mind.

It used to be 50. Now it's 40. My natural cynicism makes me ask if it's a way to get more procedure fees. Since prostate cancer is so treatable now - especially with early detection - I'd err on too early. There has been some questioning of false positives with the psa test however (not close to an expert).
