there's this dude, looks like he's in his 40s but dresses like he's in college and he seems enjoy getting everyone involved with his workout.

I can't be around that guy because he will ask me to spot him. He did it to 4 different guys in a 45 minute period. Either he needs to bring a gym buddy or hire a personal trainer
Maybe he desperately craves social interaction :/

I've asked multiple people to spot me over the course of my workout, and personally (obviously) see nothing wrong with it. If you don't want to give the guy a spot, just say "no thanks" when he asks.

What's wrong with asking for a spot? Unless he was doing bicep curls or something...

I always ask for a spot while doing barbell presses, and I usually ask different people so I don't keep interrupting the same persons workout.

You don't ask people to spot you? Then you're not lifting enough weight.

Asking people to spot you or spotting someone that asks you is part of going to a gym. If you don't like the social interaction then buy a Chuck Norris Total Gym.

I don't ask for a spot, usually. If someone's doing an exercise that would require a spot, I'll usually just ask to work in, which I guess is a lot like asking for a spot, but since the guy's doing the exact same thing, it's more of a mutual benefit.

I won't ask a random person doing something else for a spot, generally. Worst case, I'll use a machine that approximates it.

lol

Someone posts a thread about being annoyed at someone for asking for a spot excessively and all of ATOT bashes the OP for complaining about asking for a spot at all.

Oh, sometimes I just love ATOT :)

Um... hello Mr. Pot.

if you don't need spotters ever than you should just stay home...you are taking up valuable gym real estate.

Like starting a thread on ATOT?

No, but if you started a thread that said "Look how good I am an something...ain't I awesome!" it would sink to that level.

Absolutely. If you are power lifting keep a spotter (a good one) on you or you end up with this .
