how do you feather in PS 6.0

I have done this before but i cant remember how to do it now. arrg


i have a pic and i want the center to show but the outside to blend into the lower layer. argg!!!

in the select menu.. I think you need to modify the border first also under select

This works for images that have a background -

Select the area you want to have a feathered border

Select > Feather

Select > Inverse

Delete
