Set it a float and watch drift in the current.

Or are you talking about an alignment issue?

It needs to be RWD with a posi or LSD, then just get some speed going and swing the back end out. :D

If you want to do similiar in your fwd car, get some speed up and pull the ebrake while going through a turn, atleast that is how I believe it is done, my car is rear wheel drive. Also, you could try tray sliding, you aquire a couple of food trays, like the ones at places like McDonalds, and place one under each of the rear tires and floor it, that should allow you to slide around also.

I don't see how it possibly could be without ice and a broom.

Pretty much. It is a power induced slide. Now you may be able to steer quickly and brake at the same time so the rear comes loose, but you have no control and therefore is kinda useless.

It's recommended that your e-brake not be hydraulic if you do it in this method.

FWD drifting isn't the same... you can't control the slide really. Sadly enough... i have friends that call me when it rains and tell me how theyre drifting their civics in the wet parking lot. Right.

From my knowledge, it can only be RWD (d'uh :p)

And there are different ways to do it, like ones I remember from the exchange student who lived with my family years ago.

The clutch kick, umm... shift lock, e-brake drift, and the brake drift.. those are the ones I remember right away. I cant word it myself, so I grabbed an old import mag (an actual import mag, like from japan ;) )

Shift Lock This is performed by letting the revs drop on downshift into a corner and then releasing the clutch to put stress on the driveline to slow the rear tires inducing over steer. (this is like pulling the E-brake through a turn - note this should be performed in the wet to minimize damage to the drivetrain.)

Clutch Kick This is performed by depressing the clutch pedal on approach or during a mild drift to give a sudden jolt through the driveline to upset rear traction.

Emergency Brake Drift This technique is very basic, pull the E-Brake or (side brake) to induce rear traction loss and balance drift through steering and throttle play.

Brake Drift This is performed by trail braking into a corner, then loss of grip is obtained and then balance through steering and throttle motions.

Edit: I can't spell :p, oh and there are more techniques than that, thats all I can find in the mag

this reminds me of that video of that kid plowing his mom's new corolla into a curb and destroying the rear suspension.

Easiest way to drift, well not really drift, but hang the rear-end out for some time, is do it on ice/snow.

If you have FWD, just accelerate straight, turn wheel + plus handbrake. Not really drifting but easy to swing out rear.

If you have RWD, just accelerate straight, turn wheel + give more gas --> you can control the angle of the car by the gas pedal. More gas you give, more it turns...and you can experiment to try to keep hte angle of the car for some time while still moving straight. Its fun.

is this why my friend who drives an integra says it handles 10x better then an s2000? he said the s2000 "tires slide" too much. or does he not know how to drive? im thinking all cars should have good grip

yea. he was pretty funny. he told me he went to test drive the s2000 and the "grip on the tires sucks". all those guys who drive civics and integs in my class think their car is the bomb and they say the s2000 is "just for looks". which pisses me off, but seeing that i dont know jack about cars, i cant do anything. after reading this thread, im thinking the car was supposed to "slide"

"...pull the ebrake while going through a turn...."

You must be thinking of doing a bootleg turn when the car does not have severe oversteer.

Usually if people are into drifting, they do it at the track with a seperate set of tires. Doing it anywhere else is just a bad idea.
