How do you download your junk mail in Thunderbird?

I've been using Thunderbird for about four months now, and I absolutely love it. Unfortunately, not all of my wanted mail ends up in my Inbox in my online account, but sometimes in my Bulk folder instead. Thunderbird, right now, will only download mail that is in my Inbox folder. What I want to do is set Thunderbird to download mail from my Bulk folder just in case an important email does not make it past the spam filter. I've searched through the options and haven't been able to find anything that will allow me to do this.

Is there anyway for me to do this?

Then you probably can't get it. Pop is just a single stream of emails: your inbox. It's possible that your email provider offers a second stream for other stuff but it's not likely. You probably have to log in via the web interface and move the messages across manually. Do they get picked up by thunderbird then? Hopefully you can train the server-side spam filter for the ones that aren't spam.

If I manually move the good mail from my Bulk folder to the Inbox, yes TB will download it as long as it is marked unread. Unfortunately, that defeats the purpose of the email client, but I guess I will have to live with it.

BTW, would what I'm requesting work with IMAP?

All depends on the provider, but probably. I have one account from my university and they have sub-folders for 'probably-spam' and 'almost-certainly-spam' that I can review. I have another at work that uses spam assasin which I think passes spam right through to the inbox (aside from the really obvious stuff), but with additional headers with ratings that make it easy for desktop clients to detect.
