Hey guys
How do you download more than 2 things from the same server at a time with internet explorer 6.0? I save target as, and it doesn't let me save it until one of the two downloads are finished. i heard you can change this in the registry. any help would be appreciated. thanks!

yep, you can change the number of HTTP connections allowed to a server. You'd be violating the protocol, but nobody really cares. I don't remember where exactly to change it. However, you should be allowed more than 1 connection, it's probably the server limiting you. Even if you hack your registry, you'll probably get stuck with 1 download at a time.

well usually i can download 2 things at once, no more than that. do you konw where in the registry that is? i guess apps like download accelerator and getright violate this too, since they let you connect multiple times (whatever you specify).

The server itself usually sets the limit for concurrent downloads to two. Changing Window's registry setting only helps if the server allows more than that. You really need two IP addresses to appear as two different users to the server. Using NAT with multiple computers doesn't help because you will be using the same outsideInternet IP to connect ti the web server. Luckilly, my ISP is misconfigured and each PC I connect to the hub gets a real Internet IP address 🙂
