I'm going to be doing a fresh install of XP but I have the upgrade edition, do I then install Windows 98 first and then XP on top of it? or is there a way of installing XP straight from DOS and just inserting the Windows 98 CD to prove I have it? which (if any) boot up discs will I need for this?

thanks

You can boot from the WinXP cd if it is bootable. Delete partitions/format which removes all data and then install winXP. Upgrade versions of Microsoft OSes will ask you to place a full version CD into the CDRom for verification purposes.
