How do you dispose of old mattresses?

I just ordered a new mattress set that should be here in a week or two, but I just realized that I'm gonna have to get rid of my old set somehow. What do you do with them?

Does your city have a recycling center? Or donate it to Purple Heart or Goodwill if they take them. They'll even come pick them up.

salvation army or put them out with the trash. there's always a couple of scrounges in my town who scour the lots on trash day looking for gold.

Generally speaking Megamorph, the delivery people who deliver your new mattress will take the old one away w/out a charge from my experience, I hope this helps :)

Just set it outside. Somebody who sleeps on the floor will take it. Just put the gross side down.

in chicago you can just put it in the alley, someone will get it or the garbage men will take it. They literally take anything you put out there if they can lift it.

I sold my mattress at a garage sale last week tho...got $50 for something that would have soon been trash anyways.

you might be able to sell your current mattress/boxspring if there aren't a lot of protein stains on them. nobody wants a soggy mattress filled with somebody's "kids".

I just drive down the street, throw it on a random homeless person and then drive away quickly.
