How do you display the CPU temperature?

I have a copy of SANDRA lite, and it'll show the temperature of your MB and CPU, and you can refresh the readout and get a real time update. I think that there is a page in the BIOS that'll also show you your processor temp as well.
Is there a free or cheap utility that'll show the temp on the taskbar or desktop of Windows XP?
If so, can you recommend one?
I have an Opteron 170 and BFG Geforce 9700GS. I'm not overclocking either one-too chicken, not to mention not knowing how.
Is there a small increment of overclocking that is absolutely safe? I have a zalman cooler/heatsink. (Bought the computer used) on the CPU.

Coretemp to messure my QX. I dont trust motherboards anymore.

RMClock on my opty, because coretemp acts wierd with my EXPERT.

and if your wondering how bad the EXPERT mobo temp sensor is, look at this and check out Ntune cpu temp with RMClocks Coretemp.

30min Orthos Burn with 30min RTHDRIBL

for GPU's nTune monitor is the easiest if you have a nvida.

Speedfan has nice information about the SMART diagnostics of your hard drives, and also hard drive temperature.

I'm using MBM 5 (Motherboard Monitor) which has been a fantastic utility over the years. Unfortunately, it is no longer being updated by the author so it depends on your motherboard chip and make. The latest MB that I have it installed is a NF4 DFI board with Opt 165 and ATI X800 graphics board.
