I would like to be able to see the info listed in the DMI pool info screen longer.

Thanks,

Use Find to find the msdos.sys file. Right-click it and then click Properties. Click to clear the Read-Only and Hidden check boxes to remove these attributes from the Msdos.sys file, and then click OK.

Go to the MS-DOS C: prompt (you can use the MS-Dos shell)
Type: edit msdos.sys
Add the line logo=0 to the Options section.

Restart Windows.

Thanks Medea.

Medea, are you fairly knowledgeable with regards to motherboards? The reason I ask is I am having a real problem with my new Gigabyte GA-7DXR mobo and getting my hard drive to work on a certain IDE channel. Is this something you might be able to help me with??

I don't know that particular mobo, but what specifically is the problem?

I tried what you suggested for the win98 logo but it didn't work

The problem with the mobo is as follows.
The GA-7DXR has 4 IDE connectors with #1 being Primary, #2 Secondary, and #3+4 are either ATA-100 or Raid depending on what Promise drivers you install during setup and what jumpers you set.
I want to have my IBM ATA-66 hard drive on IDE3, my kenwood cdrom on ide1, and my sony cdrw on ide2.
For some reason this won't work. The only way I have gotten my system to work is to put the hd on ide1, kenwood on 2 and sony on 3. No matter what boot sequence I set the bios to do it will not boot with the hd on ide3. I know that the Promise ATA-100 drivers are loaded for ide3 because with the sony cdrw on ide3 I can go into device manager and select view by connection and scroll down and find the Promise controller, click on it to expand and there is the Sony cdrw.
For some reason it won't allow the hard drive on IDE3 and to make things worse, in the DMI pool screen during boot up it shows for the hard drive:
LBA, ATA-33, 20gig IBM" It is showing the hard drive as ATA33 and not ATA66?

I have no clue

No, can't help you. I don't know enough about this particular mobo. I had the same problem you're having when I tried to do the same thing on my mobo (ABIT KT7-RAID). I got it to boot off the hd on IDE 3 eventually. I had to set the HPT controller to boot off of IDE 3 and had to make changes in the BIOS. The Win2k portion was alright, but the Win98 portion got screwy. I finally moved my hd back to IDE 1.

I suggest that you cut and paste your question and post it in the General Hardware forum with a new title - or in Technical Support.

Re: getting rid of the logo, it does work. Go through your steps to make sure you didn't leave anything out.

Good luck!
