How do you disable ACPI / enable APM *while* installing Windows2k?

there was a thread that taught you how to do this a while back, but i can't find it anywhere. the person said that after the first reboot, boot from a floppy, and manually edit some sort of file so that apm is enabled, while acpi remains disabled. does anyone remember how to do this? and, what kind of floppy do i boot from? i can't use the win2k boot disks can i? or will a win98 boot disk suffice?

Can it be disabled in bios? I recall seeing a setting in mine that allows you to do so, although I am not 100% sure.

You don't have to edit anything. When the screen comes up that says 'Press F6 to install third party SCSI/RAID drivers', press F5 and select Standard PC. There is also the silent switch which will accomplish this by simply pressing F7 at the F6 screen.

The way PliotronX is the best way. If you have problems with shutting down after you have disabled ACPI you may want to re-enable APM in the power options.

alrighty, thanks. i just remember the other guy saying that you don't have to deal with the "if you have problems shutting down with acpi disabled" thing, if you edited something.
