Figure out what features I want, find out what phones my preferred carrier has that have those features, look up reviews on howardforums and amazon, and go from there. If all reviews are unfavorable, I rethink my feature list and see if any other phones match the revised list.
I thought I was the last human on the planet to get a damn cell phone. Finally decided to get one when my son went to school. Did the research and got squared away. Finally have five phones on the plan using only 700 shared minutes. Works easily because most minutes used are between family.
Find somebody already in your family that can add you to their plan. It helps you and them. If you're the fifth of five phones, you'd pay 20% of their total bill.
Looks a lot better than the 800. I still like the K750i though, but sure.. I don't really need Quad Band though. Who does? Only little kiddies who use Cingular in random places =P. If you're in metropolitan areas, any triband phone will do....
But yea W810 is SEXYYYYYYyyy... although they killed the internal m emory down to 20mb??
Bottom line for me:
1) Go to Asian store.
2) talk to chick who I always sign up phone deals with
3) Ask prices
4) Beg for lower prices
5) Bring ppl in and beg for even lower prices
6) Sign contract... (T-Mobile/Cingular)
Phone then provider works if you are going GSM. There is nothing wrong with that order AT ALL unless you use CDMA.
I look at the phones at the store. My priority is to get one that supports analog, I want to make sure I can use it in an emergency. The carriers are trying to convert to digital only phones, but given that there are areas where there is no digital coverage, I'd like to be able to use the phone if I'm in the middle of no where and they still only have analog towers.
