Just tell yourself you did/didn't do whatever is bugging you. The mind is a powerful tool, and it can deceive itself.

Depending on why your regreting in the first place.

Regret you didnt see your father before he died.

Regret your gf left you.

its different yet both can be senificant.

Eventually the emotional feelins will subside.

Dont make the situation worse by going overbord, remember there are still things you need to take care off. And learning to overcome those emotions and deal with things thats important will make you stronger and much more mature in the process.

But embrace the feeling because it makes you human and it only last once.

i can't deal with them. i rationalize past mistakes by "chalking them up to experience" or thinking that if anything were different in the past, i would not be the person that i am today.

denial: no, it can't really be over.
acceptance: it's been long enough. i guess it's over. i should move on now before i go bald and lose any chance of meeting my future wife.

I feed the body to a herd of hungry pigs, and move on with my life...

Why do you ask?

Why live with regrets. Here is some great advice for anyone dealing with regrets or things in the past: Close the door on the past. The past is only alive if you keep it alive. You can?t change yesterday but you can build today for tomorrow. Don?t shackle yourself with regrets. Don?t start feeling sorry for yourself. Whatever your previous circumstances, others have gotten through the same or worse. Appreciate yourself as a tested survivor: strong and determined. Learn from the past but don?t assume that your past automatically equals your future.

Instead, fill your life with anticipation. Set your goals. Write your to-dos. Just because you haven?t done something before doesn?t mean that you can?t start doing it right now. Be the new, dynamic you. Right now.
