how do you deal with it when your CRT dies?

I have always bought monitors locally and had only had to return one and that was within one month. I was having some problem with weird moire problem. What happens if you bought the monitor online or need to RMA it to manufacture for warranty? I can't imagine having to ship something super heavy back at my expense.

Depends on the company, warranty, and how far into the warranty you are. For example, I think KDS'es policy is 3 year warranty and they will take care of shipping both ways within the first year (they ship new monitor most likely with return shipping label with option selected to bill receiver). After the first year you have to pay to ship it to them but they ship new one free.

KDS, though, may be dying...I should advance RMA mine now, it's not perfect...

Quite a coincidence. I happened to be a contributor of that thread, but that thread is about cat. Right here I'm talking about CRT. as in Cathode Ray Tube based computer display device.

Remember the printer incident in the movie "Office Space"

Leave it out at the curb and get a flat panel...

That's what I would do, with 15" LCDs for under $300 and 17" LCDs for near $500
