How do you cure tennis elbow?

I hurt my elbow doing reverse curls. My elbow's sore to the touch and certain movements are really painful.

Other than icing it and avoiding painful activities, what else can I do?

Is this going to be a chronic condition?

Go to the drug store and get one of those bands, you wrap it around your forearm just below the elbow and tighten it up. Really stops the pain.

You don't cure it.

It gets worse and worse the more you use a computer and the older you get.

Just face the facts.. this is a start of a long painful relationship that will last you until death.

Telling you the truth!

Just have to face the facts, thats all.. arthritis dosen't go away, just gets worse.

i had tennis elbow very mildly, but it wouldn't go away for a long time, so i had a cortizone injection. it still hasn't recovered completly so i may go back another one in a different spot or something

Tennis elbow isn't osteo arthritis, LJ.

Anyway, what can help is rest, ice at first, heat later, anti-inflammatories (like ibuprofen, aspirin, naproxen sodium), exercises after it heals to strengthen the muscles supporting the joint.

It isn't necessarily going to be a chronic condition if you've never had it before and it's obviously due to an injury. It might, might not. If it becomes a longer term problem, a doctor can give you specific exercises to do to help strengthen the arm, may give you prescription anti-inflammatories, and possibly cortisone injections.

Short term cure:

Run full speed and slam your head into the wall. You will forget all about your elbow. At least for a little while.
