Here's an old Irish cure for hangovers: Get drunk again!
As they used to say, "I'll be drunk until the next time I'm drunk."

take another shot!!

edit: seriously, a nice midday nap pretty much shakes it. im usually also dehydrated, so water helps a bunch.

That is why you are hungover, you are dehydrated, seriously if you ever say run for a long period of time and don't get enough water you'll feel the same way. I've stopped drinking, but when I used to get hangovers I'd generally still wake up a little drunk (never slept well after drinking) pretty early then I'd eat at least 2 pieces of bread and drink at least 1.5 liters of water (more if I could stomach it) and take 2 advil then lay back down, I was fine when I woke up again.

Ding ding ding!

Hangover is just dehydration!! In a simple sense, alcohol takes the water out of your body and without water to replenish it, you'll feel like crap. As long as you drink water before you go to bed you should be more then straight in the morning.

actually a hangover is dehydration and withdrawl symptoms.

hence why water and hair of the dog works.

Well, some of the cause of the hangover is what doctors think is alcohol withdrawl. It would make sense that giving into the withdrawl would help illeviate *some* of the pain, but I don't know if it would help enough to make it worth it.

Sort of gives light to the cliche "Take a nip of the hair of dog that bit you".

That's a bunch of crap. BTW, you misspelled illeviate (alleviate). I guess if you were a hardcore alcoholic then this would help but for the vast majority of us the only thing drinking again would do is probably make you sick or help mask some of the pain. It has never worked for me. Usually when I've been hungover the last thing I want to think about is drinking more booze.

Edit-Drink lots of water and sleep.

A Bloody Mary is good. What I do is try to drink lots of water and eat a bunch before I go to bed. If that doesn't happen and I wake up feeling sick, I drink a few big glasses of water, I eat as much as I can, and I try to move around as much as possible, and poop, pooping is very important. I don't have a problem with headaches usually; its the nausea that gets to me and the general body sickness. Move around, go for a walk or something. Lots of liquids. Get your body to kick its processes in high gear.
