How do you create a lock shortcut to lock your pc?

I don't really see the point, all you have to do is press the WINDOWS+L key to lock it. Jut in case you didn't know. :)

I actually made a lock shortcut to my QuickLaunch bar following the same instructions and it works for me just fine. I also use Win2k Pro. Are you sure you are doing everything right? No typos? All characters have to be typed in and in the exact same order. Just give it another shot...

By the way, JenniferX, the Windows+L combination does not work for me. Aren't you using XP by any chance?

haven't tried it (i have win2k and use Windows+L), but if it is a user problem try logging in as admin or another user.

Yah, that's exactly my problem. Do you have sp2?

How are you doing that? I have Windows 2000 and Windows XP, the Windows + L doesn't work with 2000. Unless you've found a hack somewhere that allows it to, because from my understanding (and actual experience) it won't work.

(Oh, by the way, happy 200th post to me!)

You cannot lock the computer under 2k with windows key + L, no matter what SP you have.
These instructions work for XP, but I have not seen them work in 2k.

Win2k short-cut for locking machine:

Target: %windir%\System32\rundll32.exe user32.dll,LockWorkStation
Start In: %windir%

Now the shortcut just locks the machine, no more CTRL+ALT+DLT.

I should have known... I had LockWorkStation in my shortcut too. I thought that made no difference... Sorry.
