How do you create a DOS boot disk??

I know how to create a WIN98 Start up disk but I need to know how to create a DOS boot disk to flash my BIOS. Are they the same thing??

you can just format a floppy and do a SYS A: from the dos prompt. Then you have a bootable floppy. You wont have a cd rom or anything, but I guess for flashing a bios you proabbly want the bare minimum.

When you make a win98 startup disk from the add/remove menu, then you get a disk chocked full of generic cd-rom drivers and some files that let you repair, format, etc.

You probably know this, but if you are going to flash the BIOS you want to follow the board maker's instructions exactly. Identify your board correctly. Then find it at the maker's website and locate the BIOS page for the precise board you have. Print out all the directions before you start and know what to do if the flashing gets botched - if this happens you usually just try it again, which is why you need that bootable floppy.

Just to add a note to P.O.W. and Ulysses' comments,

ALWAYS BACK UP YOUR OLD BIOS IF GIVEN THE OPTION DURING THE UPGRADE. This way if there is a problem with the new BIOS right after flashing, you can revert back to the old BIOS.
