Hay, My name is Niv , and I just got a new BT cell.
seems that there are a lot of devices out there to connect it to my pc.

the most commen is ovcourse the usb to BT dongle. but I also spot the logitec and M$ comos that include a keyboard and mouse.
guessing that I could use the keyboard to type in SMS to the cell, and get the whole PAN (personal area network) going, what is your take on this, ppl?

I also saw other devices that lets me connect BT to my LAN, does this make any sense?
What package offers the best value for getting in to BT?

Thanks,
Niv

nivw, considering the price of the Logitech & MS combos, I'd suggest a USB dongle from http://www.newegg.com , depending on your brand preference they range $30.00 or so and since they are around the size of your standard thumb-drive, totally portable :)

which bluetooth-enabled phone did you buy?

it had better be a Sony Ericsson and not that crappy Motorola (FINALLY they use BT though)!

[i personally just imported a brand fresh spanking new Sony Ericsson K700i in from Hong Kong... $550. a very unhealthy price for someone off to college real soon! www.sonyericsson.com/k700 ]

but heres what you have to do.

buy a bluetooth USB adapter, Belkin are pretty nice, but pretty much anything that looks decent will do. Some mobile support installing themselves as a HID device for remote control of the PC (a la SE K700i), but ya gotta have a BT adapter that supports HID.

The appeal of the MS and Logitech bluetooth keyboard and mice i dont think is so great, i just like having the phone untethered.

anyway, pick your adapter, install the drivers, get it set up, then pair the devices. then you should be ready now to transfer files (rings, pictures, movies [if your phone does it... again, k700i!!!], MP3s [hah yep that too], even some cool sync software [like Floats Mobile Agent if youre running a Sony Ericsson-- this software is a MUST HAVE!])

it really is rather simple, and its the greatest convenience!

i was in the AT&T Store the other day and I was talking to them about the Sony Ericssons, and that I just imported the new one, and they asked if I use the camera a lot and send lots of pictures. I said, "well the cool thing for me, actually its pretty sucky for you guys, is with Bluetooth I take a million pictures, and send them to my PC via bluetooth, then dump them all on the web!"
they all had a great laugh... then realized they were missing out on $0.40 MMS picture messages I wasnt sending.

haaha. suckers.

:) cheers, enjoy and have fun!
