how do you clear cmos?

On most boards, cmos is cleared via a jumper, or contacts. You'll need to post more info as to the board, or look in the manual if you have it.

No, clearing cmos will not affect the administrators password in any way shape or form.

ok, i formatted the hard drive 2 times, ntfs to fat32,and back to ntfs. deleted the partition and reinstalled win 98, then winXP.
but when i tryed repairing my win xp install, it asks for the admin pass, and its wasnt left blank.

ideas anyone?

Well, what you have done makes no sense to me but if you can't figure out where the Clear CMOS jumper is, you ought to easily be able to find the CMOS battery. Unplug the pooter and then remove the battery for about 5 minutes.
