How do you clear all the phlegm from your throat?

Hot and spicey food with plenty of liquids. The spicier the better. You'll feel like yer gonna drown if you do a really good job, but that will clear you up (plus the endorphins will make you feel better).

wasabi works too

Being sick for the past week (and still coughing out my lungs), i'll give some real advice!

Now, first step, get that damn phlegm to the back of your throat. When you're sick this isn't that hard to do--cough, clear your throat, whatever is necessary.

Second step, do a clear-mouthed cough. What i mean by "clear-mouthed" is that your tongue is down, not obstructing the path from the back of your mouth to the front. In the same way as singers sing from their stomach, cough from your throat. That phlegm should come shooting straight out from the back of your throat. No contact with any of the inner parts of the mouth 😛

Take a shot or two of Everclear. It'll burn that sh!t right out.

Actually, it doesnt burn it, it thins it out and almost disolves it... but it'll feel like its burning the contents of your throat.

Basically a more hardcore version of the vodka in the back of your throat method.

What you need to do is get a small glass, and fill it with warm water. Put say, a half tablespoon of salt in, and a half tablespoon of baking soda. I'll be nasty. Gargle with it. Few things work better.

A friend of mine has cystic fibrosis and has dealt with such congestation pretty much daily for DECADES! One of his therapies is a basic massage device which he applies to his chest to work things loose.

What exactly is phlegm?
Mucous.

In all honesty, you need to support your immune system so it can fight the cold off.

I recommend some Halls Defense Vitamin C and Echinecea cough drops, and a bottle of Echinecea in capsuls.

There should be sugar free vitamin C cough drops. Take the echinecea twice a day and suck on the cough drops all day long. It will help.
