How do you clean your white running shoes/sneakers?

I have a pair of white/baby blue adidas shoes right now that I wear, but after stepping in various pieces of who knows what, they've gotten kinda dirty. Is there anything you use that works for cleaning off general types of dirt and grime off shoes?

Before my shoes reach the point of me not caring, I would use an old toothbrush and some soap. Something safe for leather.

Toothpaste and a toothbrush is what I have used for years. Doesn't seem to harm the leather either. But I also go threw shoes like they where water... :(

I thow them in the washing machine with my white clothes and a little bleach. My white Addidas are almost 3 years old and they STILL look brand new.

Won't this ruin the insides/outside? and the shoes will be soggy..?

Nothing wrong with the insides or outsides of my shoes. By the time they are through the spin cycle, they are already 80% dry. I just set them on top of the washing machine and let them dry all the way.

spray cleaner (formula 409 or similar) on a hot wet sponge

I've never heard of that stuff.. what's 409?

For real?

Canada doesn't have 409. I think. :)

Yeah, that's what I figured. If you really care about your shoes, use a toothbrush and some soap. Otherwise, the washing machine is fine. If you throw your shoes in the dryer, it helps the other stuff dry faster also.

I put mine in the dryer on low heat after the spin cycle (I have this sweater adapter so they don't move around) :)

I thought you are supposed to do what that rapper said, when they get scuffed, you throw them out.

Thats why you 'got two pair.'
