How do you clean your coffeemaker?

Somebody gave me a coffeemaker. It makes really good coffee right after I clean it. I buy those "coffeemaker cleaner" things.

Is there something cheaper to use, like bleach or whatever? What do you experts do? Would it stay cleaner longer if it were a new coffeemaker? They're pretty cheap; a new coffeemaker costs about as much as a few packs of coffeemaker cleaner.

I just want good coffee.

u wash like u do with dishes each time right? u gotta, u cannot let the coffee oils stay and get rancid. for deposits, i think people run vinegar through.

run through a bottle of clear vinegar (don't let the steam hit your nostrils!!!)
run through 3-4 pots of water to rinse
voila!

cost: $0.79

Um, NOT BLEACH!!!!

Vinegar works very well, but you'll need to run several pots of water through the machine (and rinse everything you can see) before the coffee will be drinkable again.

Edit - I've never tried pure vinegar, but even 3-1 water-vinegar will work well.

Hmm. I looked up "muriatic acid" and "coffee" on google, and got some interesting recipes for making crystal meth.

I think I'll stick with the vinegar . . . cheaper.
