So anyways, my POS '99 Jetta is leaking oil. I pulled out this morning and noticed a nice oil spot in the middle of my driveway. Any of you car guys know of a way to remove the stain?

Carb cleaner works, though not sure if its totally safe for the sewers or wherever the water goes after...

You can use sawdust to absorb the oil that is there. Not sure what to do with the stuff that is absorbed into the driveway itself. Perhaps start parking the car in a different spot each night and turn it into artwork?

Use orange oil cleaner! It works better than you can ever imagine - and it's pretty damn safe for the environment (unless you get some crappy brand that likes to put X chemicals in it).

When my dad and I change the oil on our cars, we use liquid laundry detergent + a wire brush to get oil off the driveway.

Works like a charm every time, as long as the oil is fresh.

Castrol Super Clean

My brother in law who is a fleet manager swears on it, and his driveway doesn't have oil stains (amazing considering the mount of times he's rebuilt engines)

All these special tactics. It's really much simpler. Cat litter. Leave the litter over the oil spot for a couple days and it will take it right up. Cheap and simple, plus you don't have to worry about adverse environmental effects. After all, if cat littler weren't safe for animals, there would be some problems. :p

It is the best - EXCEPT don't leave it on too long (and not at full strength - ie as used for pools) as it will bleach the concrete white and even deteriorate it.

(and don't breathe the fumes or spill it on yourself) :Q

But USED PROPERLY - it will remove ALL TRACES of the oil (unlike just about anything else and without scrubbing). :)

Garden Lime works and is safe. Just sprinkle it on, and let it sit for a few days.
