my vintage audio ampilfier came in today, and it needs some cleaning. what should I use to clean and polish it? I want it to look like it just came out of the factory. it's got a metal body and what looks like brushed aluminum knobs and faceplate.

not actual brasso on aluminum, it will eat it
you need the version for aluminum, but HD should have the right metal polish for that metal

make sure you really know what type metal it is

8 ounce liquid Brasso cleans and polishes brass, chrome, stainless steel and pewter. Not for use on aluminum, silver or lacquered finishes.

hmmm, searching homedepot.com the only metal cleaner that came up was for stainless steel. you might need to go somewhere else

The anodized metal is aluminum. That said, I have no idea if it is safe to use Brasso on it.

yeah, I have some Novox for the aluminum. I'm just going to use that over everything on the amp. I'll use the Brasso on something else
